— Chimey, Big Harbour Fools Day, third season

The clock tower (nicknamed Chimey by fans) is seen in many episodes looking over the harbour. His sole speaking appearance is in the episode "Big Harbour Fools Day", wherehe is shown to be the tugboats' personal "wake up call".

Appearances

Basis

The clock tower is modelled after the Halifax Town Clock on Citadel Hill.

Trivia

  • The clock tower's model is currently on display at the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic.
  • The name "Chimey" is not the canon name used to refer to the clock tower, but rather the result of fans mishearing Denny Doherty's narration of "It was chiming" (confirmed by looking at the encoded subtitles for "Big Harbour Fools Day"). The name has been pervasive enough over the years that the Maritime Museum of the Atlantic lists the model's name as "Chimey" on their website.
  • The clock tower's bell chime is a stock recording of London's Big Ben.
