Hank and the Sunken Ship is the twelfth episode of the fifth season.

Hank desperately wants to have a good story for story time so everyone will like him. Northumberland's report of a sunken ship gives Hank a great idea. He knows he will have the best story ever if he can raise the ship all by himself. In his excitement the young little tug leaves his good judgment behind. When his hauling rope gets stuck and he runs out of oil, a terrible storm's wind and waves push him dangerously close to some very jagged rocks. The other tugs realize that Hank is missing and Theodore and Northumberland arrive in time to rescue him. Back at the dock, everyone wants to hear what has happened, so Hank has a good story after all and Hank realizes that that he doesn't have to be better than everyone else to be liked. Also, Hank's close call makes him realize that it was not a good idea to try to raise the ship all by himself.

  • At some points, Hank's hauling rope is shown attached to his bow rather than his stern and then changes in the next shot.
  • When Theodore and Hank almost crash into the rocks, they stop before Theodore vrooms his engine.
  • In some underwater shots that take place at night the underwater shots look more like they're taking place in the daytime.
