Hank's Funny Feeling is the eighth episode of the fifth season.

Plot[]

Theodore has never met anyone who tells more outlandish tales than Malarkey. He is surprised that Hank believes the visiting ship's stories but the stories seem harmless and maybe even a little entertaining, so he doesn't really worry about it, which turns out to be a mistake. Hank enjoys Malarkey's attention, especially when the ship compliments him and offers to teach him how to tow just like the big tugs. The only catch is that they will have to practice in secret at Sandy Beach and that Hank can't tell anyone. That gives Hank a funny feeling. He knows that he should always tell The Dispatcher where he is going. With Theodore's encouragement, Hank trusts his instinct. He tells The Dispatcher, who turns Hank's funny feelings into good feelings when he praises the tug for doing the right thing.

Characters[]

Trivia[]

  • This episode marks the only appearance of S.S. Malarkey.
  • This was nominated for a Gemini for excellence in children's television, but lost to the The Adventures of Shirley Holmes.
  • This episode is the first, and possibly only, episode to mention a serious topic. In this case, the topic that is mentioned is "stranger danger", which is subtly hinted at enough for kids and adults to know how serious it is.

Goofs[]

  • In some of the close-ups of Malarkey moving his eyes, his face mask moves slightly.
