Background Information[]
Canso is a fictional supertanker ship created by Andrew Cochran.
He's based off the Pierre Guillaumat supertanker.
Behind The Scenes[]
Canso was scratch built with a plastic hull and Perspex superstructure by Fred Allen. The hull of the model was re-used from Cumberland/Colchester. Canso's eye mechanism was controlled by a remote controller.
Canso's voice was given a southern accent close to Kermit the Frog by Denny Doherty in the show.
After Canso's last appearance in Nautilus and the Sinking Ship, the model was kept in storage. Canso's superstructure was reused for Clare, Chester and Cocomagh in series 5 and the eyebrows were repainted black.
Small-scale model[]
During a long shot scene, Canso had a small-scale model in series. Canso's small model was re-used from Cumberland/Colchester. The small-scale model was sold at eBay.
